I think happiness is waking up in the morning knowing you’re loved and going to sleep at night feeling grateful for all the love you feel.

When you say “I love you, but I don’t support being gay…” – what does that mean?

You won’t provide financially? You won’t provide physically? You won’t provide emotionally?

You don’t agree with the choice to be gay (different than the verbiage support)?

If it’s the latter – what does your vocalizing disagreement get you?

Are you worried someone will see you being nice to a gay person and if you don’t vocalize but I don’t support/agree with your choice to be gay – that they may think you are gay? That they or God might think you support/agree with them? — no one is asking you to be Gay.

Support and love goes beyond who you are.

Jesus never said “go and sin no more, but if you do I won’t support you.” Jesus never said “you are healed of leprosy but if you sin I will undo this support I’ve given you.”

Emotional Support is saying come as you are.

It is not for you to judge or change or coerce.

Statements that come off like judgmental “you” statements, “you are in the wrong” statements “I don’t support you (because you are a sinner and you sin) but keep doing it because it’s your life” statements will block deep and meaningful relationships with other people.

Love is mentioned 310 times, 131 times in the Old Testament and 179 times in the New Testament. Homosexuality maybe a handful of times? (And many argue the context of these mentions)

When you go to comment your lack of support – think of these verses instead:

Galatians 6:2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

John 15:12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

Philippians 2:4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

John 4 19-20 We love because he first loved us. 20 Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen

Luke 12 -34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Luke 10:27 And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”

Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
